CLT SENIOR READERS THEATRE
In the spring of 2009, it was decided there was a need for a Senior Readers Theater program. . This would be established for actors who were no longer involved in on-stage productions at Community Little Theatre. The word went out to members of CLT and to the Drama Classes at L/A College and a group of 20 interested people showed up for the first session. The session ran approximately 8 weeks with CLT Directors coming each week to read scripts with the members.
The second session began in September and was devoted to fine tuning the group and using scripts specifically designed for Readers Theater. As the group progressed, it was decided to offer their entertainment services, free of charge, to assisted living, senior housing and nursing home facilities in the area. The word went out and the response was immediate. Within one week every available slot was filled and the new Readers Theater group was ready to move and offer their talent touring in a ‘4-mile radius’ over a period of eight weeks.
This group offers another aspect of theater to the community and brings pleasure to the participants and to the viewers.
