CURTAIN CALL CHOREOGRAPHY
Curtain Call Choreography is a musical theater dance workshop series. Each month, CLT will bring in a guest choreographer to focus on a specific style of dance through the lens of musical theater. Instructors will select a musical to teach one number from, working with participants on learning and refining the specific dance style that the musical number works with. The selection for the first workshop in June, 2025, will be from CHICAGO, focusing on Fosse-style Jazz.
Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate
(Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Sneakers, jazz shoes, and character shoes are all good options for footwear. The theater will be open 20 minutes prior to the workshop start time for check-in, stretching, changing, etc.)
Adelyn Bell first discovered CLT when she was cast as Hunyak in their 2016 production of CHICAGO. It seemed only fitting to kick off a new series of musical theater dance workshops by returning to the show and style that brought her here in the first place! Adelyn is a lifelong dancer and most recently the choreographer of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (CLT), MARY POPPINS (Portland Players), and THE PROM (CLT). Other notable performances include SWEET CHARITY (Biddeford City Theater), COMPANY (Biddeford City Theater), and INTO THE WOODS (Portland Players). She has trained with Portland Ballet, Casco Bay Movers, and New England Ballet. She believes dance is a critical artform that deserves station in public schools and that movement is an access point to self-awareness and embodied health.
Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
